App Review {Track Your Shares}

Hey guys! I trust you are doing well. I am just trying to keep up with all that's on my plate but hopefully because of the recent boycott by lecturers in campus, I may be able to get all my work done. However, this is bitter sweet because it only means more workload when they get back and a longer semester! Aaargh, you just can't win with this!

Hehe, let me leave that discussion for now though and start on the main agenda of today's post. Whenever I come across something cool, I always take it upon myself to share it with my peeps (And in this case, that is you!) Some friends of mine, who also happen to be my classmates came up with a very awesome application. Which I will be telling you about in a few...

The app is called track your shares and it is in the form of a pretty neat website which you can check out by clicking on that link. Track Your shares seeks to personalize the experience of a stock entrepreneur eliminating the misinformation mostly experienced in the stock market. The application also aims to be a reference point to stock investors by providing real-time information on the market state and an analysis of the shares.

The Team behind this application consists of three members: +Griffin Muteti who is the backend developer and designer, +Brian Mosigisi a JavaScript evangelist and also proficient in graphics and +denis mageto who is also a developer and the team manager. The three have contributed to the project for a continual period of 4 months from last year October

I had a brief sit down with them to kinda pick their brain a little bit and from that this is what I gathered.

Me: Who came up with the idea?
Griffin: The initial idea was Mageto's. But as we all kept discussing it overtime, we helped the idea grow to what it is today.

Me: What inspired tracking of shares?
Mageto: The idea was inspired by the fact most Kenyans that invest in the NSE are misinformed and sometimes misled by stock brokers because there is a gap in the communication of stock information.

Me: So, what are the technologies used in making this application?
Brian: Well...The UI of track your shares uses bootmetro CSS framework which is a flat design .MVC frameworks of PHP (code igniter ) has been used for back end development of the application .The animations in the site have been enabled by Jquery.

Me: How will you earn revenue from it?
Griffin: We are not planning to sell the project. It is our product so we are targeting to employ alternative methods of generating revenues. We are not planning to use the project in competitions. It gives us satisfaction in ensuring the normal stock investor has all the information about his shares in front of his office PC or mobile phone.

Me: Is it done...or there is more to expect from the application?
Mageto: The website is practically done but we are working incrementally to ensure a continual growth in the product. We are also currently working on cross platform application of the same that we will port to run on all devices we are also working on having graphs reflecting the shares growth in the market.

Well, there you have it guys! And it was my first 'interview' so yeeey!! It was dope chilling with these guys. They are full of creative and innovative ideas. I can't wait to see what they will roll out next. Doing cool things that matter at its best!!

If you have an application you want me to check out, feel free to halla at your girl. Also, tell me what you think about 'Track Your Shares' in the comments below.

It's always a pleasure to have you reading. Thanks a lot.
Have a fab afternoon! Ciao :)
