Going Google Awareness Campaign

So this is a very big week for Kenyatta University because guess what people, we are finally going Google!! Oh so sorry, I even forgot to say hello! How mean of me. How are you? I trust you are awesome! I am swell as well…uhhh, I rhymed (score one for me)

I am going to make this as brief as I can so that you do not get bored along the way and sleep and miss your bus and get stuck where you are and be forced to spend the night there hence get late for where you are supposed to be tomorrow and long story short, it’s just going to be really hectic for you.

Ahem Ahem...

Therefore, what are we basically doing?

We are creating student corporate email accounts for the students that accesses. My colleague +njihia jeremy and I are doing this in conjunction with the ICT department in the school. We have picked this week specifically because it is the culture week and this means there is going to be a lot of traffic to the central place where the events are happening and that is the Bishop’s Square.

The venue

We have set up a tent there, coz you know the sun is relentless when it wants to be and nowadays there is the rain thingy which happens every once in a while so you get where I am going with this?? We got a lot of help from Google. They provided us with the swag (Tees, Pens, Stunners, stickers and also Posters)

So what does it mean to have this account as a Kenyatta University student?
  • This account helps you get in contact with the ICT department directly. Should you have a query regarding your units or the portal they will be able to sort you out immediately.
  • The account also enables you to get fast response from the administration as you are identified as a KU student. Priority will be given to the KU corporate accounts first.
  • This account comes with 30GB worth of storage in the Google Drive. The normal Gmail account only provides 15GB. Trust me, that is a lot of space right there! The drive makes it easy for you to share documents, forms, spreadsheets with your colleagues. They may be too big to send via email so this option of sharing is more effective. Thank me later :)
  • There are some educational sites that will require such students accounts in order to download some of the academic work that they may have.

How do you login into your KU student email account?

However if you are having trouble with your account? Contact the KU ICT support
Telephone: 020 870 3103
Email: support@ku.ac.ke

So a big thank you to everyone who visited our tent and were receptive enough to ask questions to find out more about what we were doing and finally register and sign up for an account. You will get your new accounts by the end of tomorrow so keep checking your current account for details.

We are proud to say that the turnout was good. And we are tired yo! It has been one hell of a long day. And tomorrow we do it all over again because we couldn’t get all the students registered in one day. However we will have a major follow up accounts activation when the new semester begins.

This post would not be complete without a big thank you to one Mr. +John Wesonga

Doing cool things that matter!!

Have a lovely evening :)
