Intel AppThwack Testing Day

Is it just me or is the Nairobi weather awfully confused? In the early morning it is freezing cold, a couple of hours later it is sundress season, late in the afternoon rooftops are being blown away by the strong winds and in the evening it is shower hour and no place to shelter cause the roofs were blown away! What is up with that? It is August! It is supposed to be sunny. I want a reversed Global Warming thingy to take place. Somebody? Anybody?

Anyway, my weather rants aside. This is a quick post for anyone in the area or anyone who can make it to the area for this ongoing event. Intel is currently holding an AppThwack testing day at the +iHub Community space, fourth Floor of the Bishop Magua building off Ngong Road. The event is about testing apps on Intel-based Android devices.

This will allow one to get a comprehensive report of the apps on each of the target devices selected. AppThwack will show you the screenshots of how the activities will look like on the real devices. This information can be used to adapt an app’s user interface to be compatible with the target devices. It will also track performance overtime and provide the developer with CPU, Memory, Threads and Frames draw time metrics.

As a developer, it is very important to know how your apps run on actual devices without necessarily having the physical devices. This will make it easier for iterations and optimizations of the apps before publishing them in the store.

It is open to all developers with apps to test. It is free of charge. There is food, I know…had to mention that because I was there a few minutes ago for some tasting. Just to prove if it was well seasoned of course. Apart from that, the developers of the most improved app and developers with the most tested apps stand a chance to win devices and marketing incentives.

If learning about the benefits of testing your app did not convince you to head out here, then I hope all the other reasons did. So get down here and get to testing! Have a lovely day.
