Grace Hopper Conference {Google Travel Grant 2014}

Those who have been keeping tabs on all my blog posts know that this is not the first time I am talking about the Grace Hopper Travel Grant. The other time was last year and you can see that post here.

Well, the opportunity is presenting itself again this year and I thought I should briefly let ya’ll know in case you would be interested in applying. Or to remind you just in case you knew about it but had sorta forgotten. Again, sorry fellas…this is just for the ladies!

International Women’s Hackathon {Upcoming Event}

Hey there! How are you doing? I really hope you are all as peachy as I am. Is it just me or does everyone else have some sort of an oversleeping disorder when they have a lot on their plate but cannot seem to catch a wink when they have absolutely nothing to do? I had to literally "excavate" my head from the pillow this morning! Waaah, Aluta Continua! But I’m glad I did, because despite the rain, this is a good day.

Anyway, my awkward sleeping patterns aside; I came bearing something nice for the ladies! {And no, it’s not the new +Sauti Sol video that everyone is ranting and raving about! Ahem...Ahem} I am talking about the upcoming International Women’s Hackathon that is slotted to take place this month!

Day Two #TechnovationHackDay

Hey there guys! How you doin’? Hope all is well. I on the other hand, I’m swarmed with so much to do and so little time hence the stall in my posts. But I really wanted to check in at least for the first post of the month and fill you in on what went down this past weekend. The post is just going to be somewhat on the short end nonetheless I will try to keep it sweet :)

I have been keeping you in the loop about this new +Akili Dada mentoring project that I took on. But if should this be the first time you are dropping by (first of all welcome) and find the previous posts here and here.

Grace Hopper Travel Sponsorship

Hey everyone! I trust you have been well and are super excited for the weekend as much as I am! Thank you for all the positive feedback you have been giving me. I am more than grateful to have you stopping by this blog.

If you are female university student or a female excelling in an information technology profession, then you should definitely continue reading this post. As part of Google’s ongoing commitment to increase the number of women in engineering, they are offering travel sponsorships to the 2013 Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing Conference. It is slotted to take place in Minneapolis from October 2nd -5th 2013.

The theme for this year’s conference is “Think Big. Drive Forward” and it will offer incredible opportunities for mentoring, networking, and technical and career development. Google will pay for successful applicants’ conference registration, airfare to and from the conference and hotel accommodation whilst attending the conference.
