Intel Inter Universities App Challenge

This is a follow up post from the Intel Hacks by KU post that I wrote about last week {Check it out here}. I had mentioned that I will tell you about it, so here I go…

The Intel Inter University Native x86 Android App Challenge 2014 will be held at the University Of Nairobi, Chiromo Campus on the 26^th Day of September. This is another opportunity for students who are app developers to compete and grow their skills in a fun and interactive setting!

Intel Hacks By KU { Upcoming Event }

Hey guys,

Another Intel Hackathon is here with us! And I am super stoked because this particular one is taking place in my school, that is, Kenyatta University and just a day after my birthday! Can I hear a double whoop, whoop? No?

So if you are interested in Android development and putting your coding skills to the test in such an environment is your thing, then the date to save is 19^th September, 2014 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the C.I.T Department. Participants will be required to develop Native Android apps in groups of three {Groups to be formed right before the event begins}.

Intel Code for Good #IntelAndroid {Upcoming Event}

If you are interested in solving social problems then this is definitely the post for you. Especially if those solutions involve the use of software!

This is because the registration for the Intel Code for Good Hackathon is now open for student developers in universities. Developers need to form a group comprising of four participants and register through this link.

International Women’s Hackathon {Upcoming Event}

Hey there! How are you doing? I really hope you are all as peachy as I am. Is it just me or does everyone else have some sort of an oversleeping disorder when they have a lot on their plate but cannot seem to catch a wink when they have absolutely nothing to do? I had to literally "excavate" my head from the pillow this morning! Waaah, Aluta Continua! But I’m glad I did, because despite the rain, this is a good day.

Anyway, my awkward sleeping patterns aside; I came bearing something nice for the ladies! {And no, it’s not the new +Sauti Sol video that everyone is ranting and raving about! Ahem...Ahem} I am talking about the upcoming International Women’s Hackathon that is slotted to take place this month!

The time is now 2:00 am and seeing that i am here writing this means i am not yet asleep. Why, you may ask. Well see, i signed up for this event that us guys in the tech world like to call a 'Hackathon'. What that basically means is that we stay up all night and program or code a solution to given problem statements. Some of the attendees have already fallen prey to Mr. Sandman and they are looking for cleaver ways to get some shut eye. I see one under the tables, is that you +DANIEL KIHIA? LOL! So i pride myself in being one of the strongest individuals because as i am winning the battle when it comes to keeping my eyelids from cuddling with each other. But i must admit, it is really hard!

The hackathon in question this time round is the Random Hacks of Kindness. It is a rapidly growing global initiative which brings together a large community of innovators in over 30 countries. The aim of this event is to make the world a better place by developing practical, open source technology solutions to some of the most complex challenges facing humanity. Hence through the hackathon,  feasible projects are developed and deployed. Read more on this and the problem statements here or here.
