Intel Inter Universities App Challenge

This is a follow up post from the Intel Hacks by KU post that I wrote about last week {Check it out here}. I had mentioned that I will tell you about it, so here I go…

The Intel Inter University Native x86 Android App Challenge 2014 will be held at the University Of Nairobi, Chiromo Campus on the 26^th Day of September. This is another opportunity for students who are app developers to compete and grow their skills in a fun and interactive setting!

Intel Hacks By KU { Upcoming Event }

Hey guys,

Another Intel Hackathon is here with us! And I am super stoked because this particular one is taking place in my school, that is, Kenyatta University and just a day after my birthday! Can I hear a double whoop, whoop? No?

So if you are interested in Android development and putting your coding skills to the test in such an environment is your thing, then the date to save is 19^th September, 2014 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the C.I.T Department. Participants will be required to develop Native Android apps in groups of three {Groups to be formed right before the event begins}.

Intel AppThwack Testing Day

Is it just me or is the Nairobi weather awfully confused? In the early morning it is freezing cold, a couple of hours later it is sundress season, late in the afternoon rooftops are being blown away by the strong winds and in the evening it is shower hour and no place to shelter cause the roofs were blown away! What is up with that? It is August! It is supposed to be sunny. I want a reversed Global Warming thingy to take place. Somebody? Anybody?

 Anyway, my weather rants aside. This is a quick post for anyone in the area or anyone who can make it to the area for this ongoing event. Intel is currently holding an AppThwack testing day at the +iHub Community space, fourth Floor of the Bishop Magua building off Ngong Road. The event is about testing apps on Intel-based Android devices.

Android Developer Job Opportunity

Hey there,

I trust that you are all well. This is going to be one of those short and sweet posts so there is no need to go around in circles. I was having a conversation with a friend of mine earlier today and as it turns out, he is looking for an Android developer to help him with some applications that he is working on.

I would have jumped on the opportunity but at the moment my internship has me pretty occupied. Therefore, taking it on while still juggling other things on the side is something that might not allow me to give 120% to either of the projects. And I am not about that.

Does Making Android Applications Pay?

Sometime ago while I was chilling in a tech hub in Nairobi, I got connected to one of the fastest Wi-Fi signals that I had experienced in a long time. The first thing I thought to do was to download some new apps and to update some which were just lying there.

So there I was, at the Google play store! After a while of updating and refreshing my existing apps, I went on a downloading rampage in order to get some new ones that were bound to make my Android experience even livelier. I even went out on a limb to ask a few friends to give me suggestions on what I should get. What I knew for certain was that I was not in any way, shape or form going to buy an application. I was sticking to the free stuff! Trial version or not!

Product Review: Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8

I have been toying with the idea of doing product reviews for the longest time now but I think it is safe to say that I am now ready! And what a better way to set the ball rolling than with doing a review of my beloved baby…yes, my Mega 5.8

I have had it for almost two months now and to be honest, I love the experience so far. There are still very many things about it that I haven’t yet explored…but all in good time. I am going to do this in the simplest way possible as it is just my view of the phone so forgive me if I do not use some of the tech jargon that one would normally expect to find in a phone review. And with that out of the way, let’s get this party started! Hehe

Sweet Treats :)

Hey guys. It is a beautiful day and I hope you are well and happy. I can’t complain either. Once again I would like to thank you for finding your way to this blog. You guys are just the bestest! (And yes, I know there is no word like that but I ignored autocorrect just for you) *wink wink*

Those who have had the chance to know me personally will tell for a fact that I have a sweet tooth. I am talking creamy cakes, chocolates, pies, sweets, muffins, cookies, chewing gums you name it! If it has sugar I am most definitely there. But of course I do take precaution and brush my teeth immediately after indulging in anything. We don’t want those dental carries. They are nasty!

 

However, today there is going to be different kind of sweet treat. And I am talking about nothing other than the new Android OS! Yeey, the day is finally here. The long wait is over. This 15^th day of October (I hope it wasn't just a rumour) will see the unveiling of the Android mobile Operating System 4.4. It will be called…drum rolls please…KitKat. Yes, after the chocolate :)
