9 Habits Of Profoundly Influential People

Not so long ago (about one month actually), our country had the pleasure of hosting one of the most influential people in the world, the POTUS. President Barrack Obama’s visit nearly brought Kenya to a standstill. The last time I had witnessed such rigorous cleaning and organization was while I was in high school as we made arrangements for visiting days and PTA meetings. LOL, story for another day.

President Obama’s eloquence, sense of humor, counsel, value for women empowerment and great mastery of the subject matters being discussed kept everyone keen and interested in everything he had to say. His quotes and punchlines made for great status updates and tweets which were liked, retweeted and shared for days to come. He commanded a following and an audience, without a doubt and it is no wonder most of us had a sense of ‘What now? Who are we? We weren’t ready! What next?’ after we saw his plane depart that Sunday evening.

GSA Success Stories { #gsassaalumni13 }

Hey guys,

Words alone can’t describe what being a Google Student Ambassador has done for me. But I will try! Being involved in this program is by far one of the finest experiences I have had. It came to me at a point in my life when I really needed something to uplift me, something to distract me. And to be honest, I think it did more than that.

I expressed some of it in this post here and every time I read it or think about it, it’s as if a giant chopped onion is tossed in my eye! LOL! But they are definitely tears of joy. I have had fun as a GSA. And most importantly, I have learnt a lot. More than I ever expected. One of our most memorable events on campus was the Going Google Awareness Campaign. And my journey as a GSA became better and better since then! To pass on what I learnt through the numerous events we held and attended will always gave me great pleasure. And the fact that I am now an alumni will not stop me from continuing to do the same.

Doodle 4 Google Art Gallery

By a show of hands, how many of you have been to the Nairobi National Museum in the recent past? And no, I’m not talking about the primary school trip when you were in class five. See, I thought so. Very few!

It’s unbelievable how much we, as Kenyans, rarely tour our own land as much as tourists from other countries. I am also guilty of this! Just the other day, a good friend of mine went on a nature walk in Karura Forest and when she got back she couldn’t stop singing praises about the place. After seeing the pictures she took, I understood why. The land is so peaceful and tranquil and undisturbed. It is a place I would definitely like to visit.

#WeAreOne

It was supposed to be a normal Saturday for me. You know…wake up, go to work, meet up with my friend later on in the evening and go back home and re-cap all that with my family. There were so many activities lined up for this weekend. Even though I was not taking part in them, I knew so many people who were and they were more than excited when this day dawned. There was the Safaricom 7s which almost everyone was rumbling about, there was the usual football craze, if I am not wrong there was the Oktoberfest going down and apart from that, there was nothing for those who intended to just use these two cherished days to relax after a long tiring week. It was meant to be a good weekend and no one in Kenya had any inkling just how dark this 21st day of September would turn out.

Kenya, Our Land

On this particular day, I had a lot of trouble trying to wake up! This was unlike me but then again I had slept very late the previous night so I only had myself to blame. The first thing I did was tweet just how much I wanted to go back to bed. My eyes were so heavy and I was really struggling. I wasted a lot of time trying to get ready because I was so sluggish. And this in turn made me chose to forgo my breakfast so as to leave the house and get to my place of work on time which is located in Westlands. I thought to myself, ‘I can grab something on the way there with so many cafes in that place’
